How to make 2025 YOUR year

What it will really take to move the needle in the new year

Happy Sunday, happy holiday season, happy almost new year and thank you for opening this year’s final #TheLifeOfJLOWE newsletter!

What an incredible year it’s been, and what a blessing it has been to share over 50 newsletters with you this year week after week here on thelifeofjlowe.com. This year was my first full year out of school and the education system, and it taught me so much about navigating life and so many important lessons about adaptability and pursuing personal happiness.

More importantly to my life’s journey, however, this year was the first year that I’ve ever made money from an online business - and I did it from multiple sources of online income. I’ve made a couple hundreds of dollars from this newsletter and from creating content on TikTok, which is a couple hundred more than I’ve ever made from the internet ever.

Reflecting on that fact now, really helps me to re-position myself and re-focus my perspective on the year ahead, because it’s a reminder that things take time to change and they also take a lot of effort.

This cannabis startup pioneered “rapid onset” gummies

Most people prefer to smoke cannabis but that isn’t an option if you’re at work or in public.

That’s why we were so excited when we found out about Mood’s new Rapid Onset THC Gummies. They can take effect in as little as 5 minutes without the need for a lighter, lingering smells or any coughing.

Nobody will ever know you’re enjoying some THC.

We recommend you try them out because they offer a 100% money-back guarantee. And for a limited time, you can receive 20% off with code FIRST20.

Embracing the time and effort it takes

As you may know, throughout the first 25 days of December, I challenged myself to do #Vlogmas on TikTok and Instagram, which meant vlogging everyday and editing consistently to get content out.

Vlogmas might have just been the most fulfilling thing that I did all December, because it taught me the power of consistency and the real payoff that investing time and energy into something can have.

I was able to make some money from my Vlogmas series alone thanks to TikTok’s Creator Rewards Program, but more than the pocket change I collected, I was able to expand my social media network, begin to see new followers and (dare I say fans) both online and in person and also be able to share with the people in my life who have always been there.

One of the most surreal feelings has been being back in Jamaica and seeing people I haven’t seen in months, yet we can catch up and have an easy-going conversation because they already have some sort of context as to where my life is now because of my Vlogmas.

It certainly was a challenge to balance over-sharing and retaining privacy, but I do feel happy with the amount of love and connection that I was able to foster by sharing a one-minute vlog of my life every day for a few weeks.

What it means to pushing the needle/cart

As I was saying above, these things take a lot of time and effort. It’s not just about consistency, but it’s about being consistently exceptional in your endeavours to really move the needle.

It’s about recognising that as an entrepreneur - as a go-getter - you have to train yourself to consistently show up, even when returns are low or when you don’t feel like it, because if you don’t do it, nobody will.

When you start doing things for yourself - whether it’s like starting an online business or a run club like me - you quickly begin to recognize that at first, there’s a mountain of work that has to be done by you, otherwise it simply won’t get done.

As a small business owner and budding entrepreneur, if you want to make a change in your business, make it yourself, because nobody is going to do it for you. If you want to see a change in some way, don’t forget that Disney quote - be the change that you want to see in the world.

What I’ve noticed in my own endeavours is that as a leader, you have to be able to instil passion and drive into people from your own inner fire for your project. You have to be able to inspire others to see your vision and to be able to take on the challenges that you’ve taken onto yourself if you ever want to grow an endeavour into something big.

At this point, I’m reflecting on the way in which The Mr & Ms Campionite Foundation has grown through that same kind of shared and inspired passion over the years since I started it in 2018 at my high school in Jamaica.

Now, push your own cart and move your own needle

I could really talk about the qualities and habits that I think are important for success for much more than the length of a typical #TheLifeofJLOWE newsletter (~1000 words). However, I think the main takeaway as we go into 2025 is that you absolutely have to push your own cart, move your own needle and pull your own weight.

In anything that you decide to take on as the new year comes around, remember that you have the ability to make changes in this world if you only just start with yourself. Start with building the habit of consistency and a routine of being consistently exceptional.

If you’re setting a new year’s resolution (you can read more about my thoughts on those here) remind yourself that it’s YOUR resolution and take ownership of it. Take responsibility for your own life and for your own behaviours, relationships, habits and hobbies and never forget that you have the ability to make changes in your life where changes need to be made.

Conclusion

As I’ll say for the third time, it will take a lot of effort, and a lot of energy.

Showing up to the gym takes effort. Learning a new instrument takes effort. Going for a run at 5am takes energy. Writing a newsletter takes energy. Vlogging everyday takes effort. Becoming a Divemaster takes energy and effort.

All that I have done in the past year that has brought me the success that I can reflect on in 2024, has required tons of effort and energy.

So in 2025, be prepared to put in the work. Quitting your 9-5 isn’t a solution unless you have the work ethic to first work a 5-9. Signing up for the gym isn’t a solution unless you build the habit of actually showing up. Talking big about your goals for next year isn’t a solution unless you hunker down and actually go after what you want every. single. day.

So, as we move into 2025, I wish you nothing but success and fruitful endeavours. As you go through the year, constantly remind yourself that your cart won’t move unless you push it yourself, so get out there and push like hell everyday, because guess what?

Your own life really and truly does depend on it.

I’ll see you in 2025!
